You First Object Lesson

The objective of this lesson is to encourage students to adopt the mindset of a leader when it comes to relationship building: putting others first.

SUMMARY:

In this lesson, you will discuss the concept of "leaders eat last."

The objective of this lesson is to encourage students to adopt the mindset of a leader when it comes to relationship building: putting others first.

Popularized by the US Marines, the "leaders eat last" concept aligns with the Friendzy Catchphrase, "You First," and aims to reinforce the idea that putting others' needs before your own is an essential quality of a good leader and a good friend.

By applying the "leaders eat last," students are encouraged to build friendships proactively by taking the initiative to make others feel welcomed, included, and valued. In doing so, they will develop the essential qualities for being a good leader: empathy, selflessness, and the ability to inspire and motivate others.

SUPPLIES:

For this Object Lesson, you will need the following:

  • Dry-erase board with marker or projector board

GOAL:

  • To look out for the interests of others. Each student is a leader and leads best when they think of others first.
