12 Days of Advent Cheer

Prepare your students’ hearts for Christmas with Friendzy’s Advent kindness and reflection activities.

This Advent season, we're reminded to wait with purpose and know you're encouraging your students to prepare their hearts for Christ through daily acts of kindness, reflection, and connection.

"Prepare the way of the Lord.” — Isaiah 40:3

NO. 1 | ADVENT CANDLES ACTIVITY

A classroom activity for students to learn about the meaning of the Advent Candles, focusing on hope, peace, joy, love, and Jesus. Students will create their own Advent Candle wreath using coloring pages, craft pages, or reflection worksheets for ages EEd through High School.

NO. 2 | FAITH-FILLED HOT COCOA BREATHING

Breathe In: Inhale slowly through your nose, as if smelling a warm cup of hot cocoa. As you breathe in, thank God for the warmth, love, and joy that surround you this season.

Breathe Out: Gently blow out through your mouth to “cool” your cocoa. As you breathe out, release your worries to God, remembering that Jesus is the Prince of Peace who calms our hearts.

Repeat: Take a few slow breaths, focusing on God’s peace filling you with comfort and joy.

Teacher Tip: Invite students to close their eyes and imagine sitting with Jesus, sharing a cup of cocoa together. Remind them that just as cocoa warms our bodies, God’s love warms our hearts—and we can share that love with others through kindness and care.

NO. 3 | SHARING THE LIGHT OF CHRIST THIS ADVENT

Option 1— Class Kindness Christmas Tree

  1. Create the Tree: Draw or hang a large Christmas tree on bulletin board paper.

  2. Reflect and Write: Give each student 1–2 paper “light bulbs.” Invite them to think and pray about ways they can be the light of Christ this Advent and Christmas season. Encourage them to write a specific act of kindness or service they can do to “light up” someone’s day—just as Jesus calls us to “let your light shine before others” (Matthew 5:16).

  3. Faith Connection: “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” – Matthew 5:16

Decorate and Display: Students decorate their bulbs and attach them to the classroom Kindness Tree. Display it proudly as a reminder that each act of kindness reflects God’s love in the world.

Option 2— Personal Kindness Tree Worksheet

  1. Individual Reflection: Give each student their own “Kindness Christmas Tree” worksheet.

  2. Faith Connection: On each light bulb, students write one act of kindness or service they can do for others—family, classmates, teachers, or neighbors. Encourage them to think of the Fruits of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22–23) as inspiration: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Creative Time: Play Advent worship music while students decorate. Invite them to share their ideas aloud, celebrating the many ways they can reflect Jesus’ love this season.

Optional Closing Prayer:

“Lord Jesus, You are the Light of the World. Help us to share Your light with others through acts of kindness and love. May everything we do bring joy to those around us and glory to Your name. Amen.”

NO. 4 | SNOWBALL RACE: SHARING THE JOY OF JESUS

Gather plastic spoons, cotton balls, and cups for this festive Christmas game! Students will carry one “snowball” (cotton ball) on a spoon at a time, racing to see which team can fill their cup first on the other side of the room.

Add to the fun by balancing more snowballs, tiptoeing like shepherds on a quiet night, or weaving around “Bethlehem obstacles” as they go.

After the race, invite students to reflect together:
At Christmas, we remember that God sent Jesus as a gift of love and joy to the world. Just like the race, we’re called to move carefully, work together, and share that joy with others along the way.

Faith Connection: “The angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is the Messiah, the Lord.’” — Luke 2:10–11

Teacher Tip: Connect this game to the Christmas story by reminding students that we can carry joy—just like we carried the snowballs—and share it wherever we go!

NO. 5 | FRIENDZY CHRISTMAS SONG - "FRIENDSHIP IS A GIFT" & LYRICS

A special edition Friendzy song celebrating the gift of friendship!

NO. 6 | FRIENDSHIP IS A GIFT WORKSHEET

Play the "Friendship is a Gift" song while students think about how they will give the gift of friendship this Advent season.

NO. 7 | S.M.A.R.T. GOAL SETTING ACTIVITY

As the year comes to a close, invite students to pause, reflect, and prayerfully set new goals for the year ahead. Use the S.M.A.R.T. goal template to help them create goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.

There are grade-banded versions available from Pre-K through High School—download the template that best fits your students and guide them in creating meaningful, faith-filled goals.

Faith Connection: “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” — Proverbs 16:3

NO. 8 | SNOWBALL FIGHT

A fun and faith-focused game where students share about their favorite Advent season traditions, what they’re grateful for, and what the birth of Jesus means to them. Students write their answers on paper “snowballs,” toss them, and take turns reading one aloud to celebrate the joy and meaning of the season.

NO. 9 | FRIENDSHIP IS A GIFT COLORING PAGES

Celebrate the joy and blessing of friendship this Advent season with these three coloring pages. Each page reminds students that true friendship is one of God’s greatest gifts—a reflection of His love and kindness shared through one another.

Faith Connection: “A friend loves at all times.” — Proverbs 17:17

NO. 10 | GRATITUDE & GIVING GARLAND

A simple and meaningful activity that helps students reflect on all the blessings God has given them and consider how they can share those blessings with others. Each link in the garland represents a thankful heart and a giving spirit.

NO. 11 | HOLIDAY SKIT

Gift bragging can leave some students in sore spirits. This skit helps illustrate how bragging can hurt others, especially when we don’t know what’s going on in their lives at home.

NO. 12 | FRIENDSHIP FLICKS BINGO

Time together is one of the best gifts God gives us! This fun in-school or take-home activity helps students grow in friendship while watching their favorite Christmas movies. Use the Friendship Flicks Bingo card to see how many acts of kindness, teamwork, and love they can spot on screen—and talk about it!
