THE FRIENDZY

SELF-CARE ASSESSMENT

A worksheet designed to build self-awareness around seven key areas of life that tend to need the most care and attention.

Self-Care Starts With Self-Awareness.

When I do an image search for “self-care,” I get thousands of results featuring sheet masks, bath bombs, facial rollers, and beautifully lit people getting massages, lathering perfect skin with pillowy creams, and relaxing in bubble baths that sit at a perfect 102 degrees.

Before I let these images send me into an immediate shame cycle, I gently remind myself that self-care is much more than the photos described above. Now, that doesn’t give me a free pass to keep grading papers until midnight and skipping lunch to make last-minute copies, but it does help by reminding me that we all have unique routines and perspectives on what self-care looks and feels like.

LIKELY, SELF-CARE FOR YOU FALLS INTO AT LEAST A FEW OF THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES:

  • PSYCHOLOGICAL

  • PHYSICAL (OKAY, SO LUXURY FACE CREAMS MIGHT HAVE A PLACE HERE…)

  • SPIRITUAL

  • EMOTIONAL

  • PROFESSIONAL

  • RELATIONAL

Consider this worksheet your invitation to pause and take a viewer’s seat to your life habits and routines.

Note that it is not exhaustive, merely suggestive. It's a reminder to pay attention to what fills you, moves you, and keeps you going.

And if you find yourself identifying activities and routines that you love but have been neglecting, consider this your golden opportunity to dive back into the habits that bring you fulfillment and peace.

Feel free to add areas of self-care that are relevant to you and rate yourself on how often and how well you are taking care of yourself these days.

When you are finished, look for patterns in your responses. Are you more active in some areas of self-care but ignore others? Are there items on the list that make you think, "I would never do that"?

Listen to your inner responses and internal dialogue about self-care and prioritizing yourself. Take particular note of anything you would like to include more in your life.

Self-care isn’t easy. Honestly, if educators were to get an F in an area of life this might be the one! But self-awareness is where it starts.

The time to fill your cup is now- dream big and prepare to spill over onto your students.

I’m rooting for you!
